When you add a domain as hosted in some account, you typically set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that particular service provider. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically when the domain name is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain address where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that deals with the emails for that particular domain. The site and the e-mail hosting are often regarded as one thing, while they are in fact two different services. Having separate records for them will permit you to have them with different providers if you wish. For instance, some new company can have outstanding uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your emails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the Internet domain to the first and MX records to have the e-mails with the second, you could get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you wish to open a site or send an email - in either case, the provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you will see the needed website or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a Linux cloud hosting from our company, you'll be able to see, set up and change any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. Assuming that a particular domain has our Name Servers, you are going to be able to to modify specific records by using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or emails pointed to any other service provider if you wish to use only one of our services. Our sophisticated tool is going to allow you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted somewhere else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain in any way. If you want to use the e-mail services of a different service provider and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do this with just a few clicks through the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You may also set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Accessing and modifying the A or MX records for each of your domains or subdomains is very easy if you purchase a semi-dedicated server plan from us. The accounts are handled by using our in-house built Hepsia CP, which includes a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domain names. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you can click on any one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Modifying any record is as easy as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even when you have never dealt with such matters before, you simply won't encounter any issues if you decide to direct your website or e-mails to another company while keeping the second service with our company. If needed, you may also set up additional MX records and set a specific priority depending on the recommendations of the new provider.
